ManyPets and Odie Pet Insurance Partner to Offer Continuous Coverage

On November 1, 2024, ManyPets announced a shift to their global strategy, which included pausing new pet insurance sales and policy renewals in the US. To ensure that their policyholders continue to receive coverage, ManyPets and Odie Pet Insurance have partnered to offer continuity of care, including coverage of pre-existing conditions.

ManyPets and Odie share similar values and a strong commitment to providing pet parents with high-quality, comprehensive pet insurance. Odie is known for offering flexible plans, excellent customer service, and a simple claims process—all qualities that complement ManyPets’ mission of keeping pets happy and healthy.

What Does This Mean For ManyPets Policyholders?

This means that when a ManyPets policy reaches its renewal date, Odie will become the new pet insurance provider. By renewing with Odie Pet Insurance, ManyPets customers will benefit from:

  • uninterrupted coverage
  • no repeating waiting periods
  • pre-existing conditions previously covered under their MP policy will continue to be covered under Odie

Odie will manage all aspects of the pet insurance plan, including claims, policy management, and customer service/member support.

Will Costs Change?

As part of this renewal partnership, and as Odie becomes the new administrator of the policies, we are utilizing the same rating guidelines that ManyPets would have used. We believe in transparency; some members may see increases in their premiums and slight changes to their terms. However, all premiums with Odie will be exactly the same as they would have been with the scheduled ManyPets renewal.

Premiums are based on several factors, including the pet’s age, breed, and location, as outlined in the state-approved rating guidelines (to ensure compliance with regulatory standards). These rates are designed to reflect current market conditions, including the increasing costs of veterinary services, and allow us to continue to provide comprehensive coverage for all policyholders.

Policies will continue to be underwritten by Accredited Surety and Casualty Company, the same underwriter that ManyPets was partnered. Accredited has an A- Excellent rating with AM Best???.

More About The Rising Costs of Veterinary Care

The pet insurance industry has experienced significant growth and transformation in recent years, with an increasing number of pet owners seeking coverage for their pets.

As veterinary care costs continue to rise and medical treatments become more sophisticated, insurance companies are adapting their policies and pricing structures to maintain sustainability. Pet insurance companies have been forced to compensate for these rising costs of vet care with rate increases.

In 2024-2025, many pet insurance providers have filed for premium increases. Prior to their strategic shift, ManyPets was one of these providers. These rate adjustments, typically ranging from 10% to 30%, reflect the rising costs of vet care, as well as increased claim frequency due to the increased number of pets in homes and the advancement of veterinary medical technology, including specialized surgery and new diagnostic procedures.
